MISC MARKET NOTES
News from Grier Acres
The 2026 crop of goats are fast approaching the desired processing weights and ages. That means we need to be moving some inventory to make room in the freezers. To that end we’re having an end of season sale on all of our goat meat. All of our goat inventory on the Market at Dothan website has been marked down 30% for the entire month of July.
If you have never eaten goat before but are interested, we have a deal for you. The first five people who contact us at GrierAcres@gmail will receive a free six ounce chop accompanied by a recipe. It will be just enough for a family of four to try a bite. What do you have to lose?

If you don’t know how to cook goat, we have a recipe book written specifically for dishes based on the meat. We have permission from the author to share her recipes and we’re excited to do so. A little bit about the health benefits of Chevon. You’ve heard that pork is the other white meat? Well goat is the other red meat. If you are looking for a protein alternative to beef, here it is.
GOAT: A Healthy Meal Option
We’ve had ground goat meat tacos, tamales, and burgers. We’ve had braised and slow cooked shanks. We’ve had smoked shoulder roast. We’ve had goat kabobs and the ever popular goat curry. It’s never gamey tasting or weird smelling. It’s just extremely lean red meat that when cooked properly is tender, savory, and healthy.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
