COUNTDOWN TO SATURDAY

This is our last newsletter before next week’s Christmas Open House at Dothan Nurseries on Saturday, December 12. Our Market farmers will be hosting an old timey winter Farmer’s Market along with the food, giveaways and festivities Dothan Nurseries is having. Unline previous Christmas Open House events, this one takes place for the bulk of the day to allow time and space for people to safely enjoy the festivities. So YOU ARE INVITED! We will be spaced apart, masked and observing social distancing.

The Nursery festivities will be from 9am to 3 pm and our Market vendors plan to be there from 9 am to 1 pm or longer. The following vendors are preparing to participate:

Avalon Farms Casa Perdido D’s Jellies
Eagle Grove Services Between the Rows Hortons Farm
Martin Teas Lewis Farms Mt. Moriah Farm
Mayim Farm Sweet Acres Ward Goodies
Richter Farms Sweet Macroon Treats
So dust off those sad market bags that have been waiting for better days and make plans to fill them with hearty winter vegetables, treats and locally made goods next Saturday. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
Don’t forget to wear your cutest Christmas Mask!

MARKET CHITCHAT & GROWER NOTES

To eliminate any confusion, we are having regular orders and regular pickup on Friday this week so our customers who are not able or do not wish to deal with crowds can order without any disruptions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New Products
Purple Sweet Potatoes
Crochet Pocket Scarf in several colors
Fresh White Globe Turnips, fresh and packaged
Packaged Yellow Squash
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today’s newsletter is the first of the last two ordering cycles for 2020. We will shut down for Christmas Break after Market Pickup on Friday, Dec. 18 and will reopen for orders on January 2, 2021.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starting January 2021 we are eliminating the Footnotes section of our weekly newsletter. While the information is valuable, it is also on our website, much of it in several places! With the main focus of the newsletter being education and weekly updates we feel that reducing it to a link would better serve everyone.
MAYIM FARMS: Add some spice to that special someones life this season with a basket of homemade goodies…herbal salts, sweet relish, Our Daily Dash spices, cotton dish cloths and pot handles…all hand crafted on Mayim Farm. editors note – Greg and Carrol will be present next Saturday at Open House.
D’S JELLIES: We are so excited to be on site at Dothan Nurseries for Christmas Open House! I will have Mayhaw Jelly, Hot Pepper Jelly, and BlackBerry Jelly.  Jellies are unique gifts….delicious, too!  I hope to see familiar faces as well as new faces as we celebrate Christmas. Thank you to my customers for another year of support.
Here we go again with another “let’s try this and see what happens” experiment in our new greenhouse. Tomatoes in containers are covered with row cover, helping them to survive the two hard 6 hour freezes at 26 degrees. They seem to be okay! There’s not really enough daylight hours this time of year for them to produce well. But, hey, they are alive…. Unlike the broccoli plants out in the field. They look bit by the cold months.
Our COVID protocol is still in place for everyone who wants curbside service.
I. Order Payment:
1. Voluntarily prepay by 6 pm Thursday if possible using this PAYPAL link. This eliminates passing paper currency back and forth or handling debit/credit cards on site. Your invoice will be marked PAID and pickup is fast and easy. In the event of undelivered items you will be issued a Market credit that will apply to your next order.
2. Debit/Credit – One of us will briefly step within 6 feet for you to put your card in the chip reader. We do our best to avoid touching your card or you touching the equipment which means we sign an “x” for your signature.
3. Cash and Checks – You may hand them to us. Exact change is preferred if using cash to prevent a lot of passing back and forth. If you choose curbside pickup you are welcome to put payment in your trunk/tailgate as that would eliminate the need to come near your window.
II. Order Delivery:
1. Curb Service: Please pull up next to the Market Shed. We will direct traffic a little bit if needed. Have your trunk/ hatchback open and we’ll load you up!
2. Walk Up Pickup: Please do not come inside. When we see you coming we’ll put your order near the entrance and step back for you to claim it. This system works really well for those of you wishing to get extra veggies that may be available.
3. Regardless of how you choose to accept your Market order please know that we make every effort to practice safe distancing and ask that you do the same.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION
It takes all of us working together to keep everything running & everyone safe!
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
