WELCOME MT. MORIAH FARMS!
“Hey y’all! We are Mt. Moriah Farms located in Dale County, Alabama. We are so very excited to join!
Let me tell you a little about us! We are a family owned farm. My parents started the farm back in 2009 and things have grown to what they are today! As I was growing up I had a huge interest in livestock. Over time I took it over, becoming the manager of all things outside animal wise.
Last year my parents decided it was time for them to retire and they sold the farm. A few months later I got married to an amazing firefighter and took the farm name with us! We have Nigerian Dwarf goats, a couple of bee hives and a small flock of chickens. So we’re working to slowly grow the farm back again!
We hope you will look into our products and give them a try!”

Editor’s Note – Mia and the Mt. Moriah folks have been friends and participants at M@D events for many years. It’s a blessing to have them as part of our weekly activities now and they look forward to continuing being a blessing to our Market family.

GROWER & MARKET NOTES
“Baby it’s STILL cold outside!” And if we can believe the Groundhog, we’re going to have six more weeks of winter weather. Stay Warm and Stay Well Friends!

AVALON FARMS Sorry, still not going to be in the market this week. We are sort of on standby to drive to Virginia. Our son was diagnosed with GBS. (You can Google it) 2 weeks ago after sudden weakness and tingling in his legs. Within 2 days the weakness/paralysis had progressed to bed ridden and difficulty swallowing. Scary stuff. BUT, by God’s grace he is responding well to treatment and is improving. It will be a long road to full recovery. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.
On a farm note; tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are about 2 inches tall. There are about 200 tiny little lettuce plants of various ages. 200 broccoli and cabbage babies. And, just because we needed something totally new to try, we had our first harvest of pink oyster mushrooms this morning.

Bone Broth Note
Obviously we are all about bone broth! Beef, Fish, Chicken . . . love it all.
But for those of you who have hunters in the family we recommend caution if you wish to make bone broth with deer. So far Alabama has not published it as a problem, but Mississippi and many other states are recommending testing of venison before processing to make sure the animal doesn’t have Chronic Wasting Disease. Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a zoonotic disease that can spread from species to species, similar to Mad Cow Disease.
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
